On October 25th local time, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula defeated the Liberal Party candidate Flavio Bolsonaro in the second round of presidential elections and was re-elected. Afterward, he delivered a speech acknowledging his victory.
Lula promised, "We will strengthen education in mathematics and engineering disciplines. I don't want to continue relying on artificial intelligence from China or the United States. I want to create artificial intelligence that belongs to Brazil itself."
He mentioned that Brazil will implement full-time education nationwide, covering all stages up to high school. The country will also promote a ‘savings incentive program’ for high school students, and establish similar programs for college students. ‘In this way, there will no longer be young people, no more girls who are forced to abandon their studies due to the need to work.’
Lula said that Brazil's energy potential must be fully utilized. "Brazil may be one of the countries with the greatest potential for renewable energy development in the world. We must take advantage of this opportunity and attract data centers to Brazil, so that Brazil's data can also be stored within its own country."
"We hope to make Brazil no longer a developing country, but a developed one. We must invest heavily in the digital economy, the green economy, and the creative economy," said Luiz Inacio Lula.
