On October 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website released a document titled "Decision on Countermeasures Against Belize's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, Famfica."

(Announced by Order No. 22 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China on October 12, 2026, and effective from October 12, 2026)
In recent years, some anti-China politicians in Belize, for their own selfish interests, have stubbornly supported Belize to maintain so-called "diplomatic relations" with the Taiwan region of China. They have engaged in a series of detrimental actions regarding issues related to China, damaging China's core interests. In order to defend national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and to oppose separatist efforts towards "Taiwan independence," in accordance with Articles 3, 4, 6, 9, and 15 of the "Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People's Republic of China," China has decided to take the following countermeasures against Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science, and Technology of Belize:
1. Freeze its movable property, immovable property, and various other types of assets within our country.
II. It is prohibited for organizations and individuals within our country to engage in transactions, cooperation, and other activities with them.
III. Refusal to issue visas or denial of entry (including to Hong Kong and Macao).
This decision will take effect on October 12, 2026.
