According to a latest statement released by the Indonesian National Disaster Relief Agency (BNPB), the 7.7 magnitude earthquake and aftershocks that occurred in Indonesia on that day have caused at least 47 deaths. Officials said that due to landslides blocking roads and disrupting communication, rescue teams have not yet reached the Nagekeo area, which is closest to the epicenter of the disaster.
It is reported that after the earthquake, a tsunami warning was quickly issued in the area, and tsunami waves were detected in several places, with wave heights reaching up to 0.94 meters. On August 15, according to CCTV News, it was learned from the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar that three Chinese tourists suffered minor injuries in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia. All of them are now out of danger. It is understood that one of the Chinese tourists fell and hit a wall due to panic during the emergency evacuation process after the earthquake. The other two tourists suffered sprains in their waist.
