On July 5th local time, U.S. President Trump posted a photo on social media showing Italian Prime Minister Meloni looking up at him, accompanied by the caption "A restraining order is needed."

Trump obviously wants to imply that this Italian leader is deeply fascinated by him, to the extent that a court order was required to protect him.
This is Trump's second attempt to stir up his feud with Melania.
Last month, Trump claimed in an interview that during the G7 summit, Meroni “begged” to meet with him alone and take a photo together. Trump said, “She begged me to take a photo with her. I agreed out of sympathy.”
Meloni later released a video in response, stating that Trump's claims were 'pure fabrication'. She said that she and Italy 'never beg' anyone.
In January 2025, Meloni was the only major European leader in attendance at Trump's second presidential inauguration.
At the "Peace Summit" held in Egypt in October 2025, Trump said, "Now, if you use the word 'beautiful' to describe a woman in the United States, your political career is over. But I’m willing to take that risk." Then he turned to Meloni: "You won’t be angry if I say you’re beautiful, right? Because you are indeed beautiful."
Since the outbreak of the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran at the end of February this year, the relationship between the two countries has deteriorated rapidly. Italy has maintained a distance from the conflict, which has caused dissatisfaction among Trump.
