Trump Offends European Allies With False Claim About Meloni Photo Request

The US President Trump, who always speaks without thinking, has once again "offended" European allies.

According to The Guardian in the UK, on the 19th local time, in response to Trump's claim that Italian Prime Minister Meloni 'begged' for a photo with him, Meloni posted a video on the X platform to respond, saying that Trump's statement was 'purely fabricated', and she was shocked by it.

"There are some things that require an immediate response. Trump's statements were purely fabricated. To be frank, I am shocked," Mei Luo Ni expressed in anger, "I don't know why the US president treated his allies in this way—this isn't the first time. All I can say is, it's regrettable that he did not display the same determination against enemies of the West and against Americans."

But there was one thing he had to remember: I and Italy never beg for anything. Meoloeni said.

Trump Offends European Allies With False Claim About Meloni Photo Request

Previously, during a telephone interview with Italian TV station La7, Trump claimed that during the G7 summit, Meron insisted on taking a photo with him, and Trump had to reluctantly agree.

Trump said, “She begged me to take a picture with her! She really wanted to have a photo with me. I didn’t want to take the picture at first, but I felt sorry for her.”

These remarks have caused a huge stir in Italian politics.

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crostolo said in a statement on X that “I can’t imagine Meroni would request a photo with anyone, even under threat.” He added, “It’s regrettable that such a joke doesn’t benefit anyone.”

Italian Foreign Minister Taiani announced the cancellation of his visit to the United States, stating that Trump's remarks were serious and had "offended all of Italy." Therefore, he decided to cancel his scheduled visits to the United States on June 21st and 22nd.
