Iran Criticizes French De-Minning Plan in Hormuz Strait

On June 29 local time, Garrigabadi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, posted a statement on social media in response to French President Emmanuel Macron's comments regarding the demining work in the Hormuz Strait.

According to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the demining work in the Hormuz Strait will be entirely handled by Iran, not any other country. ‘The current situation is sensitive and complex, and we strongly advise France to avoid provocative actions that could complicate the situation further.’

According to AFP, on June 29 local time, Macron said that France and Oman are working together to ease tensions in the Middle East, and will collaborate with partners to carry out joint demining operations in the Hormuz Strait.
