On June 23, 2026, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the State Council Foreign Affairs Office, met with Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed, Secretary-General of the UAE Supreme Council of Security.

Wang Yi stated that China and the United Arab Emirates are comprehensive strategic partners. In recent years, under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Mohammed, Sino-Arab relations have continued to develop forward, despite the international circumstances. China is willing to work together with the Arab side to strengthen mutual trust, continue joint efforts, maintain high-level exchanges, explore greater cooperation potential, enhance people-to-people contacts, and promote Sino-Arab relations to a higher level.
Wang Yi said that since the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran began, China and Afghanistan have maintained close communication. This war should not have taken place at all, and it should be ended as soon as possible. Recently, the conflict has finally turned towards dialogue, but whether peace can truly be achieved still depends on the joint efforts of all parties. Currently, three things should be focused on: first, maintaining a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire and effectively implementing the recently signed memorandum of understanding. Although difficulties and interference will still exist, peace is within reach, and we should seize this opportunity and ensure its implementation in the Middle East. Second, restoring normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible to make it a "life line" for regional development is a common aspiration of the international community. Third, drawing lessons from the turmoil in the Middle East and rebuilding mutual trust among regional countries, we should discuss establishing a new regional security framework that fits the evolving situation. The Middle East should not become a battleground for major powers or a victim of geopolitical struggles. China is willing to continue supporting Afghanistan in playing a constructive role in ensuring long-term stability in the region.

Shamsi stated that the relationship between Algeria and China has a long history and holds historical and strategic significance. Algeria regards China as its most important partner and sincere friend. It is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with China, expand cooperation in various fields, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. Algeria highly appreciates China’s image as a responsible major power. It sincerely thanks China for playing an active role in promoting the political settlement of conflicts in the Middle East. Algeria wishes to maintain coordination and cooperation with China, support efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region through diplomatic channels, and safeguard the safety of international shipping and supply chains.
