On November 3 local time, Ismail Bagheer, a member of the Iranian negotiating delegation and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that there has been no new progress in the negotiations between Iran and the United States, and the mediation parties are still transmitting information between Iran and the United States.
Bagheer said, “Past experiences have completely deprived me of any optimism regarding the seriousness of America’s foreign policy.” But he also emphasized, “Iran will not miss any opportunity to use diplomatic means to protect its legal interests and demands, to deter enemy aggression, and to maintain regional security.”
He added that Iran has already made preparations for defense and will launch "devastating counterattacks" against any attack.
Al Jazeera reported that Qatar has been facilitating communication between Iran and the United States, promoting indirect talks between the two sides. However, the talks seemed to have ended on the local time of the 2nd, with no breakthrough progress made. Iranian Foreign Minister Alaaghiari said on the 2nd that intensive consultations were being conducted through the mediator, and Iran had put forward conditions and suggestions. "Everything depends on the political rationality in Washington."
However, in the early hours of the 3rd local time, several explosions were heard on Gusham Island in southern Iran. U.S. officials revealed that the U.S. military launched an attack on the island. This is the latest in a series of limited strikes carried out secretly against Iran in recent weeks. Unlike during the early stages of the conflict, the U.S. government did not publicly announce these attacks.
Although American officials claim that they intend to keep a low profile in order to avoid sending signals that large-scale military operations will resume, this move still raises concerns about the possibility of a resumption of warfare.
The Revolutionary Guards of Iran in a statement on the 3rd of [month] said: “All the latest orders released by Supreme Leader during meetings with senior commanders of armed forces will be given priority as part of ‘maximum deterrence’. We will cooperate without hesitation with other armed forces and execute these orders.”
