According to Russian Satellite News Agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on the 24th local time that Russia is one of the four countries in the world capable of independently producing aircraft engines. The report mentions that the other three countries are the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
On that day, Putin held a conference on the development of the aviation industry at the Glomov Flight Test Institute. He stated, "The key point is that the ability to independently develop and manufacture a full range of military and civilian aircraft is one of the critical indicators of a country's technological, scientific research, and industrial sovereignty."
According to reports, since 2022, Russia has introduced several fully domestic-developed engines. These include the PD-14 engine used in the MC-21 passenger aircraft, and the new 177S fifth-generation engine for fighter jets such as the Su-57.
