Trump Says Iran Accepts Nuclear Inspections; US Revokes Maritime Blockades

On the 23rd local time, U.S. President Trump posted on social media stating that Iran has fully agreed to undergoing high-level nuclear inspections in the future. “This will ensure ‘nuclear honesty’. If Iran does not agree to this, there will be no further negotiations!”

Trump said that based on the concessions made by Iran, “I have agreed to allow the Strait of Hormuz to remain open and to no longer impose further maritime blockades.” At the same time, all ships will remain in their positions, in case it is necessary to reimpose blockades. He also said that “for now, this is highly unlikely to happen.”

Trump mentioned that the Iranian assets unfrozen by the U.S. Treasury will be deposited into custodial accounts controlled by the United States, and will be used exclusively for purchasing food and medical supplies from the United States, including corn, wheat, and soybeans from the U.S.

On the same day, Oman and Iran issued a joint statement on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that both sides agreed to maintain dialogue through a joint working group between their foreign ministries, in order to reach consensus on future navigation management of the Strait of Hormuz, the services provided, and related costs. In this context, both sides also agreed to conduct consultations with neighboring countries in the region and other relevant parties.

The statement indicates that all arrangements related to the Strait of Hormuz must fully respect the sovereignty and sovereign rights of both countries along the strait. Oman and Iran reaffirm their commitment to maintaining the Strait of Hormuz as a safe and open international shipping route. Both parties emphasize that they will continue to strengthen cooperation to promote maritime safety, freedom of navigation, and regional stability.
