After US President Trump expressed full support for Netanyahu's re-election as Israel's Prime Minister, on October 19, US Vice President Wilson refused to publicly support Netanyahu's re-election.
On that day, Wanser did not specifically criticize Netanyahu during the ‘2WAY Tonight’ program, but stated that he would not get involved in foreign elections before the U.S. midterm elections. ‘I support American candidates, and I am currently focused on the midterm elections. Therefore, I will not get involved in Israeli elections.’
He added, "I don't oppose supporting him, nor do I agree with supporting him. I will not intervene in Israeli elections."
On October 18th, Trump posted an open letter to the Israeli people on social media, referring to Netanyahu as a “great warrior prime minister” and a peace partner in the fight against Iran.
The Wall Street Journal pointed out that Vance has a different approach to US-Israel relations compared to Trump. He publicly accused Israeli government officials of trying to manipulate public opinion, saying, “They are trying to change the American public's perception and prolong this war indefinitely. This is not for any specific goal; they simply want to keep the war going on indefinitely.”
Vance also stated that Israel is an ally of the United States, but not more important than other allies of the United States.
Although Vance stated that he would not intervene in foreign elections, he visited Hungary in April this year and openly supported the re-election of Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán.
