South Korea to Launch Satellites Using Newly Developed Rocket

The new launch plan for the domestically developed rocket 'World' announced by the South Korean Aerospace Agency on the 20th indicates that the South Korean government plans to use the 'World' to launch satellites at least once a year by 2032.

On that day, Wu Taixi, Director of the Aeronautics Agency, announced the above plan during a state meeting. According to the plan, South Korea will conduct the 11th test in 2031, sending four super-small satellite-based Electronic Optical (EO) satellites into space; in 2032, the 12th launch will be carried out, sending three accompanying satellites of the Multipurpose Practical Satellite No. 8 into space. The EO satellites are military satellites, and this is the first time South Korea has announced a plan to use the “World” rocket to launch military satellites.

In addition, South Korea plans to conduct its sixth launch in the second half of 2027, sending small constellation satellites 7 to 11 into space; the seventh launch will take place in 2028, sending the next generation medium-sized satellite 5 into space; the eighth launch will occur in 2029, sending a lunar orbit communication satellite into space; and in 2030, there will be two launches, sending two low-orbit communication satellites and a small lunar lander.

On October 7th this year, South Korea's self-developed rocket "World" was successfully launched, and it successfully delivered all five satellites as its primary payload into their predetermined orbits. This was the fifth launch attempt for "World", and it was launched on time for the first time.
