U.S. Embassy Safety Warning Issued for Travel in Saudi Arabia

On the 11th local time, the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia issued a safety warning:

U.S. government employees working in Saudi Arabia need special authorization to use King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, as well as airports in Jeddah and Dammam. Please be extremely cautious when using all the major airports in Saudi Arabia.

American citizens should be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. It is recommended to inquire directly with airlines and airports about the status of flights.

Due to security concerns, U.S. government employees are not allowed to travel within 20 miles of the Yemeni border. Special authorization is required for trips to Saudi Arabia’s Jizan, Asir, Nadhran provinces, as well as cities such as Jeddah, Riyadh, and Taif.

The US Embassy previously announced that the attack at King Harald International Airport on October 10 resulted in the loss of a U.S. citizen and another 12 lives. The United States extends its deepest condolences to their families, and wishes all the victims a speedy and complete recovery.
