Irans Petroleum Minister Resigns for Personal Reasons

According to the Iranian Students' News Agency, on October 4th local time, Iran's Petroleum Minister Mohsen Pekernejad resigned for personal reasons. Iranian President E’sesht Pervizian accepted Pekernejad's resignation and appointed the Deputy Minister of Petroleum and the CEO of Iran National Oil Company, Hamid Bovard, as the acting Petroleum Minister.

Iranian President's Office Deputy Director for Communications and Information Affairs, Saeed Mehdi Tabataibai, stated that Khomeini-Karad had proposed to resign due to personal reasons "a long time ago". Pesezhiyan initially refused, but ultimately accepted his resignation under the insistence of Khomeini-Karad.

Iranian government spokesperson Fatima Mohajerani also emphasized that Agha Shahmoudi had previously proposed to resign, but his request was not accepted by Pezeshchiyan.

Public information shows that Parkeh Najar was born in 1966. He worked for the Iran National Petroleum Company and has served as the Minister of Oil of Iran since August 2024. The acting Minister of Oil, Bovarde, was born in 1964. He has held positions such as CEO of the Iran Petroleum Exploration and Production Company and CEO of the Iran Offshore Oil Company. He has also served as the Deputy Minister of Oil of Iran since August 2024.
