According to Iranian official media reports, on September 28 local time, Iran's Foreign Minister Alaei said in New York that he had held another round of talks with the Qatar mediator, and that the US response would be conveyed to Iran through the mediator.
Al-Aragzi told the media: 'Today, we met with the Qatar mediator again and held talks. We discussed some ideas that they will present to the US side. The final response from the US side will be conveyed to us through Qatar.'
“Opening the Strait of Hormuz is conditional,” he emphasized. “The supreme leader of Iran, Majideh, has outlined the necessary conditions for opening the Strait, and these conditions must be fulfilled.”
Alaaghiieh also said that the latest diplomatic efforts indicate that Iran is prepared to confront through diplomatic means as well as military means.
According to AFP, Al-Aragzi expects the United States to give a formal response to Tehran's proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz on the 29th. He noted, "Qatar hopes to complete this matter by tomorrow (the 29th)."
Currently, Al-Aragzi has left New York and is on his way back home.
Last week, Iran transmitted a proposal to the United States through Qatar. The proposal suggested that, as part of an agreement to end the conflict, the Strait of Hormuz should be reopened within 7 days to restore normal shipping in this crucial global oil transportation route. Trump announced on the 26th that he had rejected this proposal, and claimed that Iran was eager to reach an agreement because "they have lost too badly."
But Alaghazi said earlier that Iran has not yet received a formal refusal from the US side regarding the mediation proposal.
On the 27th local time, Alaghizi said in an interview with American media that after Trump publicly rejected Iran’s proposal regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Iran is fully prepared to resume hostilities with the United States, but it has not given up diplomatic options. He emphasized that if attacked again, Iran will respond firmly, “even if it means a final war.”
