On September 26 local time, Russian President's Envoy and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, stated that Russia and Germany could jointly re-establish the damaged Nord Stream natural gas pipeline four years ago.
He posted an article in English on the social media platform X, saying: "It's completely true. We will jointly restart the 'North Stream' pipeline. The German Alternative Party (AfD) represents the voice of the German people and is committed to securing Germany's energy sovereignty, prosperity, peace, and cooperation."
Dmitriev's remarks were in response to Tino Chrupalla, the joint chairman of the German Choice Party, who made statements on the same social media platforms. Chrupalla proposed an international investigation into the damage to the ‘North Stream’ and ‘North Stream-2’ pipelines, and insisted on the repair and reactivation of these pipelines.
On September 26, 2022, three pipelines of the ‘North Stream’ pipeline, as well as the never-before-used ‘North Stream-2’ pipeline, suffered unprecedented damage. The Russian General Prosecution has initiated an investigation into this ‘international terrorist act’.
