According to reports by the Iranian Student News Agency on September 6, Rezaie, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated that in the coming days, Iran will establish 'no-go zones' in the Hormuz Strait. Any ships attempting to enter these areas will be included in a sanctions list.
Rezaian said that the Strait of Hormuz is currently completely closed, but some ships will still turn off their navigation and positioning systems at night in an attempt to ‘violate’ the rules by passing through the southern part of the strait. He said, ‘Of course, we have not yet decided whether to strike them or not, because they are carrying oil cargo. If there is pollution, it will also harm us. We have not made a decision to sink them.’
Rezai stated that in the coming days, Iran will announce the establishment of ‘prohibited areas’. It is expected that these prohibited areas will extend from the naval blockade by the United States to the Strait of Hormuz and some parts of the Persian Gulf. Any vessels attempting to pass through these prohibited areas will be added to Iran’s sanctions list. He emphasized that as long as the United States continues to impose blockades, exert pressure, or breach its promises, Iran will not withdraw these prohibited areas.
Additionally, Rezai announced that Iran and Oman have reached an agreement regarding the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The two countries will sign an agreement related to the shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days.
