According to Iranian media outlet Tasnim News Agency, reported on September 6 local time, Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Morteza Zamanian, announced that Iran has officially established an 'Economic War Command Center' to coordinate and promptly address economic issues in times of war.
Zamanian explained that the focus of the command center's work is primarily the responsibilities and authorities of the Ministry of Economy in various fields. The center will strive to follow up and address the issues faced by businesses, trade, and financing during wartime within the scope of its existing functions.
Some problems have already appeared that exceed the authority of the Ministry of Economy, and Zhamainiy added, “In these circumstances, the Ministry of Economy will also use its ability in formulating national macroeconomic policies to coordinate among different departments and push relevant issues forward at the government level."
According to reports, in the context of war, maintaining the continuous flow of goods and services and reducing the impact of supply chain disruptions is of particular importance. Currently, the Iranian Ministry of Economy is working to address these issues.
This year's war between Iran and Iraq has caused a large number of casualties in Iran, severely damaging the Iranian economy and people's livelihood. Since the outbreak of the war, the exchange rate of the Iranian rial against the US dollar has fallen to record lows.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump posted a message on social media, claiming that “Iran is dead.” He said, “They don’t have a navy, no air force, no currency. They can’t pay salaries for soldiers or police officers, and the inflation rate is as high as 300%.”
