Bloomberg reports that market expectations were for a trade deficit of $115 billion, and the actual figure far exceeded forecasts. Military conflicts between the United States and Iran have increased global demand for American petroleum products. However, American companies are also stockpiling goods and materials to mitigate the impact of supply chain disruptions. Additionally, imports of equipment related to artificial intelligence infrastructure have increased significantly, leading to fluctuations in the trade deficit.

The U.S. government will release more complete trade data for August on October 6, local time.
