According to the Nepali newspaper 'Kathmandu Post' on September 4th, nine days after the mudslide disaster, rescuers were able to rescue two surviving men from the tunnel at the Trisuuli 3A power station. This has reignited hopes that there may be other trapped people still alive within the tunnel.
Engineer and politician Shri Ram Noypane has been involved in search and rescue efforts since the mudslide occurred on August 26.
According to him, the two rescued individuals are mechanical foreman Sangay Saha and mechanical supervisor Kabir Maharjan.

Both men have been transferred to Kathmandu by helicopter.
Latest news from the search and rescue site shows that Sahe was rescued earlier on the 4th, followed by Maheljan.
Noyapane said that rescue workers have received clues suggesting there might be other people inside the tunnel, and the search and rescue efforts are still ongoing.
Rescue workers previously heard voices coming from inside the tunnel and established communication with those believed to be trapped there.
Rescue team members shouted inside: ‘Don't panic, we're here to save you.’ A reply came from within the tunnel: ‘Okay.’ Noyi Pane explained.
The Nepalese army and armed police forces have increased their search and rescue efforts and have now reached the locations of the trapped people.
Noyapane confirmed that there was more than one person trapped inside the tunnel.
