According to Russian Satellite News and Tass, on September 3 local time, Russian President Putin stated that contacts with US government representatives are still ongoing and promising to yield results. Russia advocates for a full restoration of relations with the United States, but this also depends on Washington.
On that day, Putin said at the plenary session of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum: "As for our contacts with the US government, they are still ongoing. Russia is in contact with government representatives appointed by US President Trump to engage in dialogue with Russia. Everything is progressing, and I hope it will ultimately lead to positive results."
Putin said that Trump tends to work in a positive and constructive manner. He added that Ukrainian Western allies who remain silent are becoming accomplices in international terrorism.
Putin pointed out that Russia does not reject cooperation with the West, but it must be based on equality and mutual respect. He also emphasized that economic ties between Russia and regions such as Asia, the Middle East, and Africa are developing positively, which helps to alleviate the pressure of sanctions.
