China-Russia Energy Cooperation: Updates on Siberia Gas Pipeline 2

September 1st, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jia-kun hosted a regular press conference.

Reuters reporter asked if the spokesperson could provide updates on the Siberian Gas Pipeline 2. Did the leaders of China and Russia discuss this issue during their meeting?

Guo Jiaqun said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China and Russia have carried out close cooperation in various fields, including energy. The Chinese side wishes to work with the Russian side based on principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit and win-win results, continuously deepening the practical cooperation between the two countries.

According to Russian satellite news agency, Russia's Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov previously stated that this meeting was a "very important encounter," but did not specify whether there should be expectations for the finalization of the 'Siberia Power 2' agreement. He only mentioned that "this topic will be discussed at the bilateral level."

Russian media reported in September last year that Russia and China had signed a memorandum regarding the construction of the Siberian Gas Pipeline No. 2.
