According to a report by UkrINFORM-Interfax on August 26, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mikhail Draputy, visited the troops fighting in the direction of Aleksandriivka.
Zelenskyy commented on his meeting with the officers and soldiers of the 80th Independent Paratroopers Brigade “Galicia” in his Telegram channel. “Today, we discussed with the commanders how to strengthen our defenses. There are several specific needs: supplies of drones, long-range artillery and small radars, direct support for brigade-level units, issues related to deserting from posts, as well as training and incentives for troops. We will address these issues one by one. Our defenders must be strengthened to the greatest extent possible.”
Moreover, he also expressed gratitude to those military personnel who had served in the front line.
He said, “Our gratitude goes to those soldiers—it is because of them that Ukraine has celebrated its 35th anniversary as an independent nation. For over four years, Ukrainian soldiers have fought with pride and perseverance to defend our country. This is the main reason why Ukraine exists and continues to exist today. I awarded the soldiers with national medals. Thank you for your service!”
