Lin Jian stated that China's cooperation with Iran is always carried out within the framework of international law and should not be interfered with or disrupted. The Chinese side is closely monitoring the relevant developments and will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard its own rights and interests.
On August 24th, local time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin issued a warning to the world, urging countries to cut off any financial ties with Iran, otherwise they risk being excluded from the dollar system. Previously, Mnuchin imposed what he called ‘the most severe financial sanctions in history’ on Iran.
According to reports, the U.S. Treasury announced a list of sanctions against 60 individuals, entities, and vessels on that day. The list includes several entities, individuals, and vessels from mainland China and Hong Kong, but no Chinese financial institutions are included.
