Trump Proposes Renaming Lake Ontario

On the 25th local time, U.S. President Trump posted a statement on the 'RealSocial' platform, stating that the United States is seriously considering renaming Lake Ontario to 'American Lake'.

Currently, trade conflicts between the United States and Canada are escalating. Trump explained that the reason for the name change was "the expectation that there will not be much business interaction with Ontario in the future."

Ontario Lake is one of the Great Lakes in North America, located at the border between the United States and Canada. The lake borders Ontario Province of Canada to the north and New York State of the United States to the south.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford recently said that if the late US former President Reagan had seen Trump's trade policies, he would have “spun out.” Ford also threatened that if the trade war worsens, Canada will cut off its supply of electricity and critical minerals to the United States.

Previously, the United States referred to the Gulf of Mexico as the “United States Bay”, but this move did not gain widespread recognition from the international community.
