According to Iran International Television (IRIN), on August 23 local time, Rezaie, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, posted a statement on social media saying, 'If this economic war continues, not a single drop of oil will be exported through the Strait of Hormuz or anywhere else in the Persian Gulf.'
He emphasized that any country that participates in or supports the economic warfare launched by the United States against the Iranian people will be regarded by Iran as an act of war.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesman Mohib said on that day that the Revolutionary Guard is ready to cope with the U.S. economic measures. Even if Washington exerts pressure, Iran will still be able to maintain its trade.
He stated that Iran has developed plans to deal with various hostile actions by the United States. “We have plans to mitigate the adverse effects of the enemy’s economic warfare.”
He pointed out that U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a new round of economic measures against Iran is equivalent to a tacit recognition of America's failure on the military front.
"We operate in plain sight of the American eyelids, circumventing U.S. restrictions, and soon everyone will see the results." Mühbe said.
When discussing the maritime blockade and economic measures imposed by the United States against Iran, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Ibn Risha said, "With the help of Iranian youth and Iranian wisdom, we will overcome these current difficulties."
In addition, Ibn Lissan also refuted Trump's statement that the Hormuz Strait would be declared as part of the United States territory, saying that Trump "talks too much".
On August 19, Trump posted on social media, saying that Iran “failed to seize the opportunity to reach an agreement with the United States.” Therefore, he announced the implementation of “the most severe economic measures ever” against Iran. He claimed that this would be an unprecedented “economic war and economic isolation,” aimed at weakening Iran’s capabilities.
