According to Yonhap News, the fifth ministerial strategic dialogue on China-Korea information and communication cooperation was held in Beijing on August 24. The two countries discussed digital policies and cooperation in the field of radio waves.
The South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology, Information and Communications said that a meeting was held with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on that day to share development plans for the next-generation information and communications technologies that will drive industrial and economic innovation. Both sides agreed that it is crucial to guide the development of digital technologies, strengthen core technological capabilities, and promote international cooperation.
Both parties also shared policies and experiences regarding the effective use of radio waves, and agreed to carry out cooperation in the field of radio waves to address the changing conditions of radio wave usage as next-generation communication technologies develop.
According to Yonhap, this meeting is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Technology Cooperation signed during the January 2018 summit between South Korea and China. It marks the resumption of dialogue between the two countries after eight years, following their fourth meeting in 2018.
