According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on August 22, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Luhut, chairman of the Indonesian National Economic Council, in Jakarta.
Wang Yi stated that under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto, China-Indonesia relations have maintained a positive development trend. Practice has proven that strengthening friendly cooperation between China and Indonesia not only effectively promotes the development of both countries, but also sets an example of mutual benefit and cooperation for countries in the Global South. With the collective rise of countries in the Global South, China and Indonesia are important representatives among them. Both countries share a similar geography and have complementary economies. Both sides adhere to friendly policies towards each other, and further deepening cooperation between China and Indonesia offers favorable conditions, both geographically and politically. China is willing to work with Indonesia to fully leverage the comprehensive strategic dialogue mechanism and the "2+2" dialogue mechanism, eliminating obstacles, enhancing mutual trust, and further tapping potential. This will promote cooperation in various fields to keep pace with the times and improve quality. Prabowo asked Wang Yi to convey his best wishes to President Xi Jinping. He praised the role and achievements of the Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Mechanism and the "2+2" dialogue mechanism. He said that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has successfully lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty and achieved incredible accomplishments in fields such as economy, technology, and military affairs. China has set an example for countries in the global South, providing many valuable lessons that are worth learning from. China treats Indonesia with equality and mutual respect, offering Indonesia valuable confidence and support.
