Trump Says White House Press Secretary Job Applications More Than Ever

According to a report on the website of The Hill newspaper in the United States, in response to the vacant position left by White House Press Secretary Caroline Lavelle after her resignation, Trump said on August 21 that he had “never seen so many job applications in his life.”

Trump was interviewed at the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland that day. When asked about who might be considered to replace Leavit, Trump refused to disclose the specific name and implied that such a choice could be quite difficult.

‘I don’t know, maybe it’s you.’ Trump pointed at several journalists who were standing with him on the apron.

He added, “I can tell you that Caroline can also tell you that I have never seen so many job applications in my life.”

Standing beside Trump, LeWitt nodded in agreement and said: "There are indeed many choices."

Trump continued, saying that Levitt “made this job very attractive”. Therefore, “they all want this job, and they love this job”.

Trump stated on August 12 that Levitt will resign by the end of this month. The reason for her resignation is to have more time to spend with her children and family. Trump referred to Levitt as one of his “most trusted assistants,” and said she would become one of his “important external advisors.” Additionally, Levitt is expected to play a significant role within the Republican Party, helping the party win the mid-term elections.

It is speculated that Steven Cheung, the director of White House Communications, is the most popular candidate for the position of White House press secretary. CNN political commentator Scott Jennings was also considered for this role.

On the 21st, Trump was asked whether Jennings was among the candidates. He remained silent, but said, "Scott Jennings is quite good."
