According to Yonhap News, on June 3 local time, surveys conducted by three major Korean television stations showed that the ruling party, the Common Democratic Party, achieved an overwhelming victory in the ninth local elections.
The Common Democratic Party leads in 11 constituencies, including Seoul. The largest opposition party, the National Force Party, has a lead in one constituency. The election results in Busan, Daegu, Jeollabuk-do, and Gangwon-do are closely contested.
This local election is the first nationwide election held after President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea is elected in 2025. Public opinion believes that the results of this election will serve as an important indicator for evaluating the publics perception of Lee Jae-myungs government.
