UAE Suspends Trade with Iran Amid Missile Incident

According to a report by the Financial Times dated August 19 local time, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that 'in view of the escalating regional situation, which has undermined regional and international peace and security, all trade, business relations, and financial transactions with Iran have been suspended until further notice.'

Reports indicate that the UAE Ministry of Defense stated that its air defense system detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran. According to reports from CCTV, Aref Hamilili, the head of strategic communications at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denied accusations regarding the economic relations between the UAE and Iran. He reaffirmed that the UAE is committed to promoting regional peace, stability, and prosperity through dialogue, cooperation, and regional integration.
