According to Reuters report on August 2nd, Iran warned the United States not to take any ‘risky actions’. It stated that if the US military carried out the threats by President Trump to launch a new round of attacks against Iranian targets, Iran would respond with firm countermeasures.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arasteghzadeh spoke by phone on Saturday with senior officials from Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. Just a few hours earlier, the Kuwaiti military announced that they had downed "hostile drones" launched by Iran that targeted several important facilities in their country.
According to Alaghi's Telegram account, during a conversation with Pakistan's Army Chief of Staff and Marshal Asim Munir, as well as Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Alaghi stated that Iran would respond firmly to any 'aggression'. Both parties also discussed the possible consequences of US 'unstable actions' and the risk of further deterioration in the regional security situation.
Aralghî then expressed to Saleh bin Fahad, the Saudi Foreign Minister, that any action by either the United States and Israel or other regional states to launch attacks would be met with an equal response from Iran.
The "Bright News Network," which has close ties to Iran's top national security agency, warned on Saturday that if the United States attacked Iran's energy infrastructure, Iran would target oil fields in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, as well as natural gas fields in Qatar and Israel. It stated that "all targets will be reduced to ashes."
Trump said during a cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday that he believes that American negotiators, including his son-in-law Jared Kushner, U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Waltz, and Secretary of State Mark Elton Brown, may still be able to reach an agreement with Iran.
However, Trump also said that he is losing confidence in Iran, claiming that “they often break their promises.” Tehran has also repeatedly criticized Washington on similar grounds in the past. Trump also threatened that the United States would “strike them back.”
