According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, on June 5, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered reporters questions regarding the United States sanctions against Cuban President and others.
Question: On April 4th, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that it had added Cuban President Diaz-Canel and other related entities and individuals to the sanctions list. This includes Diaz-Canels spouse, his stepson, as well as Raul Castro, the son and grandson of Cuban revolutionary leaders. Cuban President Diaz-Canel responded by saying that the U.S.s actions were aimed at intensifying its blockade of Cuba. He also stated that Cuba would resolutely resist imperialist aggression. The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the U.S.s new sanctions as economic aggression, and used this as a pretext to take even more dangerous measures, including military attacks against Cuba. What is Chinas comment on this?
Answer: The US has become even more aggressive, escalating its sanctions against Cuba. They have openly listed Cuban leaders on a list of individuals subject to sanctions. This once again reveals the USs arrogant and oppressive behavior. China firmly opposes such actions. Stability in Cuba is a common aspiration of the international community. Any attempts to disrupt stability in Cuba will ultimately harm the US itself. China urges the US to immediately end its blockade against Cuba and any forms of coercive pressure, as well as to stop violating the right to life and development of the Cuban people. China will continue to strongly support Cuba in maintaining its sovereignty and security, and opposes any external interference.
