Trump Claims to Declare Strait of Hormuz US Territory

According to reports by CBS and NBC, President Trump claimed on August 14 local time that he would soon declare the Strait of Hormuz as part of US territory.

On that day, Trump said during a speech at an event in Long Island, New York, that Iran was suffering a crushing defeat. "Soon after we completely defeat Iran, I will declare the Strait of Hormuz as American territory. That's basically it. We have implemented a blockade. No ships can pass unless we allow them to."

On that day, he also said that spending a little more on gasoline fees is necessary so that “a very evil country” cannot possess nuclear weapons. “When you have to spend a little more money, remember this.”

He said: "I will never apologize. I did the right thing."

On August 12, Trump wrote that the United States has full control over the Hormuz Strait, “I believe we will continue to have control over it!” He also said that Iran is helpless in this regard.

According to Iran International TV (IRANINTL), on the 13th, Ali Azmayan, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy in Iran, stated that the Hormuz Strait has been closed, and the military forces have full control over the passage through this waterway.
