According to reports by the Bangladeshi media website BanglaNews24 on August 7, a serious traffic accident occurred in the Sirajpur region of northeastern Bangladesh. Two passenger buses collided head-on on the Sirajpur-Dhaka highway, resulting in at least 9 deaths and around 25 to 30 injuries.
The accident occurred around 7:30 am local time on the 7th, at the Daamiir section of the Osmani Negir district in Sillhet province. Police said that a bus traveling from Dhaka to Sillhet collided head-on with a bus traveling from Sillhet to Dhaka.
The police said that eight passengers died on the scene after the accident, and one person who was injured died due to severe injuries while being taken to the hospital. Among the victims were a child, and the rest were adults.
After the accident, the passenger bus was severely damaged by the impact and flew off the road, crashing into a ditch beside the road. Most of the injured people also came from this bus. Currently, about 30 injured people have been taken to different hospitals for treatment, and their identities have not yet been fully confirmed.
Witnesses said that the impact was extremely strong, and the scene was very tragic. Currently, local authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
