According to media reports from Iran's Meyhargroup and Reuters, two Iranian citizens were executed on August 3. They were accused of spying for Israel during the US-Iran war this year and the 'December War' in June last year.
The Iranian judicial authorities identified the two men as Omid Behzad and Pouria Safvat. Iranian officials stated that since the attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel on February 28th, the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has been attempting to recruit agents within Iran through direct and indirect communication networks.
Iranian authorities found that Behzad, during the US-Iran war earlier this year, used map software to locate and transmit coordinates, geographical locations, and relevant information of military, law enforcement, and security centers. These data were sent to networks associated with Mossad. The administrator of a Telegram channel related to the Israeli regime told him that these coordinates, after verification, would be added to the IDF’s target database and transmitted directly to Mossad through secure channels.
Savvat was accused of sending pictures and information about important locations to “Iran International Television”. This media outlet is considered by Iranian authorities to be part of Mossad’s communication network. It is reported that the locations provided by Savvat were later bombed.
Additionally, Safwat was accused of filming and transmitting videos of Iran’s anti-aircraft systems from the rooftops of high-rises during the “War of 12 Days” that erupted between the United States, Israel, and Iran in June 2025.
According to reports, both spies were arrested by the intelligence department of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard. They were convicted for espionage and providing intelligence cooperation with the Israeli regime. Their death sentences were confirmed by the Iranian Supreme Court before being executed.
