According to an article in The Independent dated August 1st, a retirement community in Arizona, USA, will introduce a marijuana vending machine designed specifically for the elderly. Residents will no longer need to go to offline pharmacies to purchase marijuana products.
According to reports, the “simple mode” of this self-service machine is specifically designed for the elderly. It features large, easy-to-read navigation buttons, and the ordering process has been significantly simplified. The machine also offers a selection of cannabis products that meet the needs of the elderly. The purpose is to make it easier for those who are not familiar with smartphone applications or online purchases to purchase cannabis products, while also enjoying delivery services to their homes.
Reports indicate that this senior community has approximately 2,000 residents aged 55 and above. The facilities include an 18-hole golf course, a heated swimming pool, and a community clubhouse. It is understood that over 12,000 residents from surrounding communities can also use this self-service vending machine.
In 2020, Arizona legalized recreational marijuana, and in 2022, retail sales were allowed. A poll conducted in 2024 showed that 86% of voters in the state supported the legalization of medicinal marijuana, and 69% supported the legalization of marijuana for adult use.
