According to reports, benefiting from the growing demand for advanced chips required by AI applications, TSMC’s additional $100 billion investment in Arizona is an addition to the already announced $16.5 billion investment in local manufacturing facilities.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. Chairman and CEO Terry Gou said, "We believe this investment will further promote the development of the semiconductor ecosystem in the United States, strengthen the supply chain, and create more high-paying and high-tech jobs in the U.S."

He added that Arizona will add four new factories dedicated to advanced packaging. This will bring the total number of factories in construction or planning to 12. However, the actual opening date of these new factories will depend on “market conditions”.
