According to the Ministry of Defense website, on July 28th, Sultan Hassanir of Brunei met with Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun at Sribagawan.
Hassan Nahr said that the relations between the two countries are deep, and both sides are working together to build a community with a shared future. Vietnam firmly adheres to the one-China policy, appreciates China's support for ASEAN as a central entity, and expresses its heartfelt gratitude for China's support in promoting Vietnam's "2035 Vision". Both sides hope to strengthen cooperation on regional issues of common concern. Defense cooperation is an important pillar of the strategic partnership between the two countries. In recent years, the two militaries have achieved fruitful cooperation in areas such as institutional dialogue, personnel exchanges, and education and training. Vietnam welcomes further exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries and looks forward to the visit of more Chinese naval vessels.
Dong Jun said that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and [the other country]. Under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, political mutual trust, economic mutual benefit, cultural exchanges, and multilateral cooperation have been deeply developed between the two countries. This has set a model of equal treatment for both large and small nations, with mutual benefits and win-win results. Currently, there are important opportunities for the development of military cooperation between China and [the other country]. We should seize these opportunities to comprehensively enhance the level of cooperation in various fields. With more practical achievements, we can make greater contributions to building a common destiny for China and [the other country] and opening up new prospects for bilateral relations. Peace in the South China Sea is related to the common interests of regional countries. China is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with [the other country] in areas such as maritime security, so as to jointly maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
