Chinese Citizens Warned to Be Vigilant About Traffic Safety in Japan

On the 21st, the Chinese Embassy in Japan issued a statement reminding Chinese citizens to pay attention to traffic safety.

Recently, serious traffic accidents involving Chinese citizens have occurred in Japan. On July 16th, a collision between a sedan driven by a Chinese tourist and a train took place at a railway crossing in Toyako City, Hokkaido, resulting in injuries to five tourists. On the 20th, another collision between two sedans occurred in Toyako City, killing one Chinese tourist who drove the car, with five others being injured.

The Chinese Embassy in Japan once again reminds Chinese citizens in Japan to be vigilant and pay attention to traffic safety.

1. Be cautious of railway crossings. There are many railway crossings in Japan. If you hear a siren while crossing, do not enter the crossing. Do not stay within the crossing even when crossing normally.

II. Obey traffic rules. Japanese motor vehicles drive on the left side of the road; this point needs special attention to avoid accidentally entering the reverse lane.

III. Do not drive without a valid license. Chinese driver’s licenses cannot be used directly in Japan. If you choose to drive yourself, please obtain a legitimate local driver’s license in advance and purchase insurance well in advance.
