According to reports by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and the Yomiuri Shimbun, a fire broke out at the Asahi Station of the Japan Self-Defense Forces in Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture, and Taito District, Tokyo, on July 20 local time. There are currently no reports of casualties.
According to reports, around 11:30 am on July 20 local time, the fire department received reports from several passersby and other individuals stating that ‘black smoke’ was seen at the Azusa base of the Japan Self-Defense Forces.
Nine fire trucks and other vehicles were dispatched to participate in firefighting, and there is no report of casualties so far.
Reports say that the fire was extinguished after about an hour.

According to information from the Chaoxia station, a fire broke out at the garbage disposal area of the station, and it spread to the adjacent warehouse.
The police and fire department are investigating the cause of the fire.
According to an earlier report by the PLA newspaper, the Chaoxia base is regarded as the ‘nerve center’ of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. It is one of the most important bases of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, housing units such as the Headquarters of the Ground Corps, the Eastern Division Headquarters, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Eastern Communications Group, and the First Facility Brigade.
