US Strikes Iran After Attack on Merchant Ships

On July 7 local time, the U.S. Central Command stated on its social media account that troops of the Central Command had begun launching ‘a series of powerful strikes’ against Iran, with the aim of making it pay a heavy price for attacking commercial shipping operated by civilian crew members in international waterways.

The United States Central Command stated that the American strike was in response to an Iranian attack on three merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. It also noted that Iran’s aggressive actions are “unjustifiable and dangerous” and “clearly violate the cease-fire agreement.”

On the 6th, Trump once again warned Iran. The United States must either reach an agreement with Iran or complete its “mission”. In response, Mohammad Baiget Zoreigadeh, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that Trump’s threats were “out of reality”. Iran would not accept such threats and called on the United States to engage with Iran in a respectful manner.
