On July 5th, local time, the newspaper USA Today published an interview report. Raul Guillermo Rodriguez Castro, grandson of Cuban revolutionary leader Raul Castro, said that he is willing to negotiate with U.S. President Donald Trump.
"I can negotiate with anyone designated by the American side," Castro said in an interview with *The New York Times* in Havana in June. "And this includes, of course, Trump if there is a chance."
He also stated that in appropriate conditions, Gu Bā is willing to release those deemed "political prisoners."

In May this year, Cuba announced a list of thousands of released prisoners. These prisoners were freed under a decree issued in April, during which the Cuban government was negotiating a series of disputes with the United States, including issues related to political prisoners.
Also in May of this year, the United States announced that they had filed so-called 'murder charges' against Raul Castro. Raul Castro was born in 1931 and was elected as the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba twice, in 2011 and 2016, before stepping down in April 2021.
Reuters pointed out that this "indictment" from the US marks a new low in relations between the long-time Cold War rivals, the US and Cuba. At the same time, Trump is pushing for a change in the Cuban regime.
Later, Cuban President Raul Castro responded through social media to the U.S. charges against Raul Castro and five other people, stating that this was purely political maneuvering with no legal basis. The purpose was merely to continue fabricating false claims by the U.S. in order to find excuses for absurd military aggression against Cuba.
Diaz-Caneol emphasized that this so-called 'accusation' precisely exposes the American side's arrogant attitude in the face of Cuba's firm stance and unity among its leadership, while also revealing their defeat and embarrassment.
