Iran Vows to Never Develop Nuclear Weapons

On July 4th, a press conference was held for the 14th World Peace Forum, organized by Tsinghua University and the Chinese People’s Foreign Affairs Society.

Regarding the nuclear issue that concerns the outside world, Iran's Ambassador to China, Fazli, stated that we have repeatedly emphasized that, in accordance with all laws and regulations in Iran, including Iran's constitution, as well as the principles we believe in, and the religious directives issued by the Supreme Leader, we will not pursue the development of nuclear weapons or other non-peaceful nuclear capabilities. We have not pursued such development in the past, and we will not do so in the future.

Iran has always been a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty. We have always adhered to very strict standards. Observers from the World Nuclear Association have constantly monitored our nuclear activities. All reports issued by this organization emphasize that Iran has not taken any steps towards developing nuclear weapons.

More than a decade ago, when Iran’s nuclear agreement was announced and signed in the United Nations Security Council, countries including China and Russia agreed that Iran’s nuclear activities have always been peaceful. The United States unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear agreement, thereby fueling further divisions.
