According to a report by CBS on August 26th, President Trump once again claimed that without him, “there would be no Israel.”
In a podcast hosted by conservative commentator Glenn Beck, Trump discussed the Iran nuclear agreement from the Obama administration. Eight years ago, Trump withdrew from a nuclear agreement reached during the Obama administration, calling it “one of the most dangerous agreements ever,” and describing it as “the road to nuclear weapons” for Iran.
The Trump administration stated that the memorandum of understanding it recently signed is “far superior to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached by the Obama administration in 2015,” and will take additional measures to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth insisted that the memorandum differs from the JCPOA, as the United States will “ensure that military options are always available” – this is also a point emphasized by Trump.
In the podcast, Trump said, “If this agreement had been implemented, Iran would have had nuclear weapons long ago,” and confidently stated, “They will definitely use it.”
He continued and said, “Israel would have been completely destroyed. If Donald Trump weren’t the president, Israel wouldn’t exist anymore… I can guarantee that.”
It is understood that this is not the first time Trump has made such remarks. On June 16, while attending the G7 summit in France, Trump said, “Without the United States, there would be no Israel. Without me, there would also be no Israel, because no other president would be willing to do what I do.”
Trump also said bluntly, "If I hadn't intervened, Israel would have disappeared from the face of the earth, 100 percent."
