China Provides $100 Million Aid to Earthquake-Hit Venezuela

On June 30th, Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez posted on social media, expressing gratitude to the Chinese government for their timely assistance after the earthquake in Venezuela.

Rodriguez said that China's assistance will be used to support post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, including housing construction, the purchase of materials and equipment. The Venezuelan side expressed heartfelt gratitude for this sincere humanitarian gesture from China.

Two powerful earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela have resulted in 1,719 deaths, 5,034 injuries, and 22,619 people receiving treatment at medical facilities and field hospitals. Rescue efforts are still ongoing, with a total of 3,319 foreign rescuers and 140 search and rescue dogs participating in the disaster relief operation.

On June 29, Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated during a regular press conference that China is deeply concerned about the earthquake disaster in Venezuela. The Chinese government has decided to provide additional emergency aid in the form of 100 million yuan in cash assistance to Venezuela, to be used for earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction efforts. This aid will be delivered to Venezuela as soon as possible.

Guo Jiakun said that China also provided the Venezuelan side with satellite images of the earthquake-stricken area, to support Venezuelan efforts in earthquake relief. Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese associations have voluntarily offered urgently needed construction machinery and medical supplies to Venezuelan authorities, and have formed rescue teams to actively participate in search and rescue operations. China is willing to continue providing more support to Venezuela as the situation in Venezuela develops.
