According to a report by the Japanese newspaper "Mainichi Shimbun" on June 30, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are coordinating the drafting of a joint statement regarding cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI). The statement proposes inviting 500 high-skilled Indians to Japan by 2030.
On July 1st to 3rd, Maki Koike will visit New Delhi, the capital of India. A joint statement will be issued during this visit, highlighting the strengthening of cooperation between Japan and India in the development of new AI models, as well as promoting the exchange of talents.
Reports and speculation suggest that the purpose of this move is to enhance Japan and India’s influence in the field of AI, in order to counter China, which is a leading country in this area.
According to reports, in order to realize the vision of ‘Free and Open Indian-Pacific Region’ led by Gauj Singh, as well as Modi’s plan to jointly promote regional security and development, this visit will focus on strengthening cooperation in AI. Gauj Singh also intends to attract more ‘like-minded countries and partner nations’ to join the collaboration.
