Biden Slams Trumps Reflecting Pool Renovation as Corruption

Recently, U.S. President Trump spent a huge amount of money to renovate the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial, but the result was a complete mess, which sparked doubts and criticism from all sectors of American society. According to the Washington Post on June 28th, former U.S. President Biden made a rare public appearance on June 27th, criticizing Trump’s renovation project in Washington D.C., and calling him a “corrupt loser”.

Biden attended a dinner hosted by the Democratic Party in Maryland on the 27th. In his speech, he harshly criticized Trump: "This is not just a matter of his own pride. He is dismantling the East Wing of the White House to make room for banquet halls. He has engraved his name on the Kennedy Center, trying to build a triumphal arch for himself, and even hired his own pool manager to renovate the reflecting pool... Wow, what a failure."

Biden criticized harshly, saying, "The Mirror Pool project reveals problems that are even worse than the narcissism and incompetence of this administration—namely, corruption, blatant and undisguised corruption, on a scale unprecedented in any U.S. government's history."

He said that since returning to the White House, Trump has earned billions of dollars. “This is simply shocking; he has no sense of shame. This makes America feel embarrassed, but Trump doesn’t care at all. Earning money from the presidency is one of the reasons why he wants to be president.”

According to The Hill, Biden has rarely appeared in public since he will step down in January 2025. Now, the former U.S. president is suffering from prostate cancer, with cancer cells having metastasized to his bones.

After taking office, Trump initiated a series of renovations and construction projects. This included investing $600 million in the construction of a banquet hall on the East Wing of the White House, and plans to build a 76-meter-high Arc de Triumph in Washington.

Trump also attempted to change the name of the Kennedy Center, renaming it the "Trump-Kennedy Center". However, U.S. District Court Judge Christopher Cooper ruled last month that the name of the Kennedy Center could not be changed without legislative approval from Congress. He ordered the suspension of the center's closure and renovation plans, requiring the removal of Trump's name from the name of the center.

Recently, the Trump administration spent over 14 million dollars to renovate the Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial. However, less than two weeks after the renovation, the bottom coating of the pool began to peel and peel off, and algae reappeared, making the water in the pool turbid again.
