According to the Israel Times, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister confirmed to this media that Prime Minister Netanyahu stated during a cabinet meeting on the 28th local time that Israel is ‘very seriously’ considering Turkey's President Erdogan's recent remarks regarding Israel, and will ask the United States to pay attention.
Reports quoted Netanyahu as saying, "Almost every day, Erdogan calls for the destruction of Israel. We take these statements very seriously. If there is one thing we have learned from our national history, it is that when someone says they intend to destroy you, you must not take it lightly."
"In order to clarify: we will continue to encourage our American friends to pay attention to these remarks. We will not ignore them."
In recent years, Erdogan has been one of the leaders who have criticized Israel most harshly in diplomatic settings. The Israeli Times mentioned that Erdogan once prayed during a public religious event to destroy Israel. Turkish Interior Minister Chivtchek called for “liberating Jerusalem” earlier this month.
U.S. President Trump has praised Erdogan on many occasions, and once implied that Erdogan might choose to support Iran in the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran due to his dislike for Israel.
In addition, Netanyahu has recently been publicly criticized by Trump for ordering attacks against Lebanon. The changing delicate relationship between the two has attracted attention from the international community.
