According to Russian news agency reports, on the 28th local time, Russian President Putin stated at the Unity of Russia Party conference that Russia is currently at a critical moment in its fate.
Putin said that in an era of growing global challenges, national unity is particularly important for Russia. The West cannot defeat Russia on the battlefield, and therefore attempts to shake the internal political situation in Russia will not succeed. Russia will firmly defend its fundamental interests.
"I reiterate, Russia is confident in its rejection of any attempt to curb our development, we have the strength and means to achieve this. No one should doubt that." Putin said.
Putin also stated that the elections for the State Duma (the lower house of parliament) will be held strictly in accordance with legal regulations within the prescribed deadline. He instructed relevant departments to take measures to ensure the safe conduct of the elections and to prevent any attempts at external manipulation.
On the same day at the conference, Russian Federation Security Council Vice Chairman Medvedev also stated that this period is the most difficult in Russia's modern history, and the United Russia Party will successfully complete all the tasks set by the president.
